Building a career in deliverability
Deliverability is a challenging career with many skills needed for success. On the technical side we need subject expertise around email - including SMTP, DNS, authentication schemes, bounce handling, email clients, and filtering processes. But technical knowledge isn’t enough. We also need interpersonal and communication skills to explain uncomfortable truths and realities to customers, clients and management.
Since Laura started as a deliverability consultant in 2001, she’s watched the job grow from a strange, niche set of skills and knowledge into a full-fledged career path with multiple opportunities and paths to advancement. But it wasn’t always easy. In many ways, we’ve made this all up as we’ve gone along. We’ve learned on the job and in the trenches. We’ve cobbled together career paths that worked for us. While this is an exciting and challenging path, it includes some uncertainty and risk, too.
We want to make it better for the next generation of deliverability experts.
Over the last few years, Laura has provided formal mentoring and professional development coaching for colleagues. She’s helped mentees level up their deliverability knowledge and develop their unique career path.
How it works
- In our first session, we’ll talk through your experience, goals and questions.
- We’ll schedule ongoing monthly sessions for a period of 6 months
- You’ll have unlimited access to me by email for 12 months.
What it costs
Professional mentoring starts at €6000 for a six month commitment. For those of you using professional development funding from your companies we can bill them directly. We do have a few reduced rate slots for independent consultants and individuals. Talk to us for more information about these slots.

I went into the mentoring with a very broad “teach me the world” request and Laura was able to zero in and focus on key elements that have given me foundational models onto which I can use to build my deliverability expertise.
